I know this is neither a new nor original craft idea - taking random vintage babbles and reconstructing them into a one-of-a-kind statement piece.
But boy do I wish it had occurred to me when I had my choice of anything in my late grandmother's jewelry box.
Don't get me wrong - I scored some great pieces that I wear and adore, but I can't help thinking about the redux of the ones I left behind.
She LOVED costume jewelry - the bigger the better, and she had gobs of it. I think of the treasures I could have created - necklaces, bracelets, earrings, belts - all with serious sentimental value versus mad mass production commonality.
Well, at least now I have a another great excuse to comb the flea markets armed with a serious artsy-craftsy mission and Grandma in mind.
And I'm in luck - with the flea market that is, one of the best, Alameda Point Antiques Faire, is this Sunday.
You gotta go early for the good stuff!
